The balance is mainly needed for auctions. To place a bid, your balance must cover the whole amount at once: the bid plus our service fee — 10% of the lot price, minimum ¥1,000. These funds are held the moment you bid.
The balance is also handy for paying for regular orders.
Top up your balance first — a bid will not go through without funds on your account.
When you place a bid, we hold not only the bid itself but our service fee as well: 10% of the lot price, minimum ¥1,000. For a ¥10,000 bid from a private seller you need ¥11,000 on your balance.
Lots from store sellers have Japanese consumption tax added, about 10%: the tax-inclusive amount is held, and the fee is calculated from it.
The funds stay on hold until the auction ends. A bid cannot be cancelled, so bid only what you are ready to pay.
The bid is just the price of the item. Domestic shipping in Japan and international shipping are not included — you pay for them later.
The hold on your balance is larger: the bid plus our service fee — 10% of the lot price, minimum ¥1,000. Lots from store sellers also have Japanese consumption tax added, about 10%.
So your balance needs to cover more than the bid itself.
If you win, the held amount — the bid with the fee — is charged from your balance and we buy the lot. Domestic shipping in Japan and international shipping are paid later.
If you lose, the hold is released and the full amount is available on your balance again.
